The RHOSLC Recap: Season 5, Episode 5

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Recap

Season 5, Episode 5

The RHOSLC Cast Photo (Season 5)

Post-Milwaukee, the ladies Bronwyn and Lisa meet to discuss a recent realisation about Bronwyn's family.
Seeing Bronwyn talk about such a sensitive topic so openly, on-camera, especially as a new cast member,
was truly commendable.

As we know, many of the RHOSLC have strong ties to various religious organisations in Utah, and have discussed how their transgressions from faith have affected their lives throughout the show. Whilst the benefit of having such conversations on camera has been disputed, I cannot help but think that Bronwyn was brave to take this conversation on camera.

Of course, I have to give a nod to Bronwyn's outfit before we discuss the rest of the episode...

Meanwhile, Whitney and Heather hit the slopes with new 'Friend of the Show', Britani. The skiing took a back seat to Britani's relationship drama in this scene, unsurprisingly, as she told the girls about coming home to a romantic gift to her on-again-off-again boyfriend (which is perhaps too strong of a word, if you were to ask him), Jared Osmond (of Donny and Marie).

Whitney had some drama of her own to discuss as she revealed to the girls that current frenemy and fellow cast member, Lisa Barlow, had left Whitney's gift to her in her hotel room back in Milwaukee. Once again, the topic of conversation turned to rumours surrounding Whitney's Jewellery Line, Prism, as Heather revealed to Whitney that Lisa may have been the source of these rumours within the group.

Newfound besties, Angie K and Mary, join Heather's teenage daughter at a Hip-Hop Dance Class, and after discuss Angie's current issues with the group.

Meanwhile, in a room made from Himalayan Salt (which is supposedly beneficial), Heather gets Lisa's take on her dispute with Angie.

It seems Heather's meddling may be the thing to interfere with the group dynamics this season, after throwing Lisa under the bus with Whitney, and then throwing Angie K under the bus with Lisa. My question is, is this just Heather trying to made Heather happen?

Following her talk with Heather, Whitney takes the rumours into her own hands, as she becomes determined to find out who is behind them. Speaking to a friend on the phone, Whitney learns that Lisa may be behind these rumours, confirming what she had learned from Heather. But is it true?

I'll only briefly touch on Britani's 'date'/'closure meeting' with her "best friend", Jared Osmond. Despite coming to the conclusion that they were over, Britani once again tried to get Jared to commit to her. Britani, you deserve better. So, in the words of Jared, "let's just put a pin in it".

The episode ends with, yes, another group activity. This week, it's Ziplining. Heather, Mary, Lisa and Britani, perhaps the least outdoorsy people ever, brave the Zipline.

On a surprising note, we learn that Mary is a secret Zipline lover. Perhaps the most unexpected fact I've ever heard, based on her white outfit paired with gold wellies.

Mary's Ziplinging outfit

The Zipline itself only got about thirty seconds of screen time, as the ladies sit down for a chat. Britani confronted Lisa about meddling in her relationship with Jared, before the topic of conversation turned to Lisa's mounting tension with Angie K.

Mary was the first person to stick up for her new friend Angie K, and was quick to point out Heather's "two-faced" behaviour. This may be one of the reasons why I love Mary Cosby.

So, will this be the season where Heather finally happens? I doubt it.

Overall Episode Rating: 8/10.
